Grain neutral spirit (at 96% ABV) is infused with the 4 distinctive botanicals inside Botica’s copper pot still during 7 days. This allows the botanicals to macerate in the spirit before distilling, to release their essential oils, resulting in the creation of vapour.
Juniper (in Latin Juniperus), is used for digestion problems including upset stomach, heartburn, bloating, and loss of appetite, as well as gastrointestinal infections. It is also used for kidney and bladder stones.
Coriander (in Latin Coriandrum Sativum) seed are used for digestion problems including upset stomach, loss of appetite, hernia and nausea. It is also used to treat measles, toothaches and joint pain.
Cardamom (in Latin Cardamomum), is a botanical used for digestion problems including heartburn, intestinal spasms, constipation, liver and gallbladder complaints, and loss of appetite. It is also used for common cold and other infections, cough, bronchitis, sore mouth and throat, epilepsy, headache, and high blood pressure.
Hops (in Latin Humulus Lupulus), is a climbing plant belonging to the family of cannabáceas (distant cousin of Marijuana). Hops are commonly used orally for anxiety, sleep disorders such as the inability to sleep or disturbed sleep due to rotating or nighttime work hours, restlessness, tension and nervousness.
Distilling
Process
The resultant vapour passes through a condenser and is reliquefied to produce an essence. As a result of this, the ‘heads’ (volatile compounds with low boiling points) and ‘tails’ (volatile compounds with high boiling points) are separated from the distillate.
The resulting essence (measured at 76% ABV) is compounded further with a wheat-based grain neutral spirit.
The liquid is broken down with demineralized water to the required strength for bottling (37,5% ABV).

The World’s Most Minimalistic Gin
Botica’s copper pot stills were first heated up in March 2018 and from there the brand became an overnight success. Botica.03 is made in small batches using the very best grains and botanicals, infused to perfection using the most complex distillation method of “London Dry Gin”.

The Summum Essentia Est formula was inspired by a combination of the first documented recipe for Genever by Philippus Hermanni in a Een Constelijk Distileerboec, Antwerp 1552, for the distillation of Juniper which his family used to make the Genever and the family’s “Formula Magistral”.
